Join us at this press conference where we’ll join in solidarity, celebrate our diverse community and reject false accusations of antisemitism.

We’ve seen this tactic used to shut down protests for Palestine on college campuses, to police teachers in BUSD classrooms, to bully interfaith partners into pro-Israel stances, and now we’re seeing false charges of antisemitism used in the Berkeley City Council election.

As someone with family members living in the West Bank and Jerusalem, Mr. Gaith has critiqued U.S. policies toward Israel. In response, the incumbent city councilmember Igor Tregub, who is also the Chair of the Alameda County Democratic Party, has barraged Mr. Gaith with personal attacks and false accusations of antisemitism, and many local Jewish organizations have followed suit.

Jews for Majdi oppose anti-Palestinian racism and its use to unfairly portray a devoted community member, small business owner, Bay Area native and Cal alum as an antisemite. We must stand against anti-Palestinian racism. It has no place in our community. We believe that critique of Israel is not antisemitic and covers over the harm caused by actual antisemitism that arises from white supremacy.

Join us Thursday at 1pm on the steps of Berkeley City Hall (2180 Milvia) as we affirm the principle that Jewish safety and Palestinian safety depend on upholding human rights for everyone in our city and in our country.
