Contact your city council member and the mayor!
Our city council is hearing from the Police Department and Flock all the time about why we need more mass surveillance in Berkeley.
We need to be LOUDER and MORE PERSISTENT than them! We can do that if each of us contact the city council regularly during the Request for Proposal (RFP) process between September and December.
Your messages do not need to be lengthy – just explain why you opposed automated license plate readers (ALPRs) or mass surveillance in general.
Also, there has been more bad press about Flock, Axon, and other ALPR vendors recently. Whenever you see new articles and videos highlighting the problems with these vendors, send that information to council member and the mayor and reiterate your opposition.

- You can call or email, and if you email, don’t forget to include the mayor on all of your email communications too.
- You can also email the general council@berkeleyca.gov email, which will go to all council members and the mayor. If you do this, tell them which district you live in.
